← Previous: Thiruvasagam Explained #3: Sivapuranam – Verse 3
Both fire and moonlight /
After the garland of names, the saint beholds the Lord’s great paradox: He is both the scorching heat and the cooling moonlight. And then the saint makes his most disarming confession — “I have no wisdom of my own.”

The meaning in plain words
“O Pure One — both the scorching heat and the cooling moonlight, the Supreme Ordainer! You graciously came to me so that all falsehood departs far away. O true Flame shining as true Wisdom! O Lord of Bliss! I have no wisdom of my own — O good Wisdom that dispels ignorance itself!”
Two things make this verse unforgettable. First, the paradox: the same Lord is both fire and moonlight — fierce to falsehood, gentle to the devotee. Second, the confession: the saint who has just attained liberation says plainly, “I have no wisdom.” It is precisely the empty cup that can be filled — and so he begs not for knowledge, but for Wisdom itself to come and drive out ignorance.
To carry with you / உடன் எடுத்துச் செல்ல
Sit with the two pictures — the scorching sun and the cool moon — and ask which face of the Lord you need today. Then borrow the saint’s prayer: not “give me knowledge,” but “dispel my ignorance.” There is a difference, and he knew it.
