Thiruvasagam Explained #15: Sivapuranam – Verse 15

← Previous: Thiruvasagam Explained #14: Sivapuranam – Verse 14

The dancer in the deep night /

The great sentence ends — in liberation. Those who cried out, praised, and worshipped: their falsehood perished, they became truth, and they will not return to karmic birth. And the one who did it dances — in the deep night, in Thillai, in the Pandya land.

The verse /

The meaning in plain words

“Those who worshipped and praised and abided — whose falsehood perished and who became truth — will not come here again nor approach karmic birth. O you who are able to destroy the bondage of this deceitful sense-hovel! O lord who dances the dance in the deep night! O dancer in Thillai! O king of the southern Pandya land!”

Poy ketta mey aanaar — “falsehood perished, they became truth” — is the whole of liberation in four words. Not “they became good” or “they went to heaven”: the false became the true, the way a dream becomes waking. And the liberator is a dancer — in the midnight dark, in Thillai’s hall, in the singer’s own Pandya country. Salvation has an address, and it dances.

To carry with you / உடன் எடுத்துச் செல்ல

Falsehood doesn’t need improving; it needs perishing. Let one “poy” die today — and dance a little.
