The promise at the end / முடிவில் வாக்குறுதி

The hymn ends as it began — with a promise. Those who cry “O!”, who speak of the unspeakable one, who understand the meaning of this sung song beneath the sacred feet and speak it — they will dwell in Sivapuram, beneath Shiva’s feet, honored by all. The circle closes: it opened with “let us praise,” it closes with “they shall be praised.”

பாடல் தொடங்கியது போலவே முடிகிறது — வாக்குறுதியுடன். “ஓ!” என்று கதறி, சொல்லரியவனைச் சொல்லி, திருவடிக் கீழ்ச் சொல்லிய பாட்டின் பொருள் உணர்ந்து சொல்வார் — சிவபுரத்தில், சிவன் அடிக் கீழ், செல்வராய் வாழ்வார், பல்லோரும் ஏத்தப் பணிந்து. வட்டம் மூடுகிறது: “போற்றுவோம்” என்று தொடங்கியது, “போற்றப்படுவார்கள்” என்று முடிகிறது.

The meaning in plain words

“Crying ‘O you who sever sorrowful birth!’ — those who speak of the one hard to speak of, who understand the meaning of this song sung beneath the sacred feet and speak it — they shall dwell as the blessed ones in Sivapuram, beneath Shiva’s feet, praised and bowed to by many.”

The final blessing is also a quiet instruction: porul unarnthu solluvaar — “those who, understanding the meaning, speak it.” Not mere recitation, but understanding. The hymn that began with “let us praise the feet” ends by promising that its singers will themselves be praised — the devotee’s journey from praiser to praised, from the feet to beneath the feet, forever. This completes our walk through the Sivapuranam.

எளிய சொற்களில் பொருள்

“‘அல்லல் பிறவி அறுப்பானே! ஓ!’ என்று, சொல்லரியவனைச் சொல்லி, திருவடிக் கீழ்ச் சொல்லிய பாட்டின் பொருள் உணர்ந்து சொல்வோர் — சிவபுரத்தில் செல்வராய், சிவன் அடிக் கீழ் வாழ்வார், பல்லோரும் ஏத்தப் பணிந்து.”

இறுதி வாழ்த்து ஒரு மெளன அறிவுரையும் கூட: பொருள் உணர்ந்து சொல்லுவார் — வெறும் ஓதல் அல்ல, பொருளுணர்ந்து சொல்வோர். “அடி போற்றுவோம்” என்று தொடங்கிய பாடல், பாடுவோர் தாமே போற்றப்படுவார்கள் என்று முடிகிறது — பக்தனின் பயணம் போற்றுபவன் முதல் போற்றப்படுபவன் வரை, அடியிலிருந்து அடிக் கீழ் வரை, என்றென்றும். சிவபுராணப் பயணம் இத்துடன் நிறைவு பெறுகிறது.
