Thiruvasagam Explained #3: Sivapuranam – Verse 3

← Previous: Thiruvasagam Explained #2: Sivapuranam – Verse 2

After liberation, a garland of names /

Verse 2 ended in arrival — “having seen your golden feet today, I have attained liberation.” Now the saint does what a freed heart naturally does: he calls out to the Lord by many names, one after another, like stringing flowers into a garland.

The meaning in plain words

“For my soul’s upliftment, You stood within my heart as the sacred Om. O Truth! O Pure One! O Bull-rider! O Vedas! O Father! — so I hail You, who tower high, who are profound, who spread vast — O Subtle One!”

Notice how the verse opens inward — the Lord abiding in the heart as Om — and then bursts outward into praise. And notice the beautiful paradox in the closing line: He towers high, He is unfathomably deep, He spreads everywhere — and yet He is the Subtle One, finer than the finest. The infinite and the intimate, in a single breath.

To carry with you / உடன் எடுத்துச் செல்ல

Try calling out just the names slowly — “Meyya… Vimala… Vidaippaga… Aiya…” — the way the saint does. Each name is a different face of the same beloved. That is what this verse is: not an argument, but a garland.
