A Fallen Leaf

A Fallen Leaf

Golden-orange fallen maple leaf on gray pavement

One leaf. That was all it took to announce that fall had arrived.

I found it on the pavement near the library — a maple leaf, caught mid-transformation, gold at its heart and copper at its edges, as if the tree had poured its last light into this one small flag before letting go.

There is something deeply honest about a fallen leaf. It does not cling. When its season is done, it lets go — and in letting go, it becomes more beautiful than it ever was on the branch.

The Thiruvasagam speaks of surrender as the highest wisdom. A leaf knows this without being taught.

This is the first entry in a small journal of such moments — flowers, changing leaves, and the quiet things nature leaves at our feet when we are paying attention.
